We are inviting friends in the local community to register now to volunteer to help us fulfil our 2011 Christmas Hamper programme
What's it about?
We create food hampers for families in the most disadvantaged areas of the district, working closely with charities to identify the people most in need.
A bit of Hamper history:
Over the years our annual event has grown in size, with more and more families being supported and an increasing number of volunteers coming along to join us on the day.
2009 - 7 hampers delivered in Harrogate & South Yorkshire
2010 - 27 hampers support families & local charities including Harrogate Homeless Project
2011 - our target for this year is 50 !!
How can you help?
You can get involved in lots of ways:
Make a donation (money or food)
Help set up and pack the hampers
Deliver hampers and see the smiles
What to expect The day starts with a quick briefing, and we get organised into teams. We'll have a big room with lots of piles of food and need your help to transform the piles into hampers. By late morning, they should be made up and it's then time to deliver them. That's when the real fun starts.
We make deliveries in pairs and typical reactions from recipients range from tears, hugs, amazement, surprise and so on. We do not to say why or how families were selected, simply that Hampers are from friends of Harrogate Round Table.
It promises to be a fun and inspiring day, whether this is your first involvement in the programme or if you supported us last year.
